Topic:

Implementing a Learning Management System

Presenter & Location:

Frani Wartow
Wilmer Cutler Pickering LLP
2445 M St. NW
Washington, DC
202-862-4107

Description:

Frani gave us an overview of the selection, preparation and rollout of the Virtual Training Assistant at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering. This LMS, which has been in use for approximately 18 months, was first rolled out to the DC office in March of 2003.

VTA Learning Management System

  • VTA has an online evaluation system that you can make required if you want.  Users filling out evaluations can also choose to make their submission anonymous.

  • If you change the schedule of a class, VTA has an email button that you can use to notify all the schedule students of the change.

  • Users can create their own wish list for classes that are not available.  VTA will automatically notify students when a wish list class becomes available.

  • Wilmer has VTA host their LMS remotely which they prefer because that is one less server they have to maintain.  VTA’s hosting has been very reliable.

  • If you decide to host the program yourself, you can use Crystal Reports to create your own custom reports.  Because Wilmer does not host the system in house, all report changes are done by VTA.
