PAST MEETINGS

THURSDAY, JUNE 23, 1999

LOCATION: Sughrue Mion Zinn Macpeak & Seas, PLLC
Washington, D.C.

HOST: Jennifer Holehouse

TOPIC: Designing Case-Based Classes And The
Benefits Of Them

SPEAKER: Jennifer A. Holehouse - Training Manager for Sughrue Mion. Jennifer will be instructing us on the benefits of case based classes.

DESCRIPTION: Case-based training strays away from the "follow-the-leader" style of Instructor Led Training. Students work at their own pace on the topic they are learning. The trainer takes on more of a "coach" role. When students solve cases on their own, they retain more of what they learned. In the cases, they are asked to use their job-aids or ask another student learner for help. This encourages independence and confidence in themselves and increases their interaction with other students which is even more helpful back at their desks. We find the retention rate to be much higher in case-based classes.

FREE SAMPLES: Email Jennifer for free samples. They are in Word 97 format. You’ll have to design your own exercise files, but the class and exercise structure is included.
